House Photos |
Built around the late 1800's as a four room dwelling, most likely by Sage Sawmill for employee housing, with an outhouse and cistern in the yard, our house is an ongoing project.
The house had a new foundation and sizable addition added early in its life. Gone were the well and outhouse.
By the time we came along it had been abandoned for about ten years and needed lots of help.
We have added a sun porch to the back of the house
Remodeled the kitchen changing the entire layout with new custom cabinets, installed a coffered ceiling and paneled walls in the dining room, replaced and leveled the floor on the first level.
We purchased an additional 20' X 100' part of the city owned lot that adjoins our lot. This has allowed us to construct a new addition, giving the house a formal foyer replacing the old farm stair with a new graceful staircase, computer room/office downstairs and a second bath upstairs.
Wolverine Restoration Vinyl Siding done in three colors, almond for the body, wicker for trim and clay for the soffit and accents will actually add traditional style in keeping with a house of this period, with 3.5" casing around the new Silverline Windows with 5" crossheads with crown moldings will finish off most of the major projects.
Since storage space is limited and there is no room for a garage, we built a shed that resembles a carriage house. It is 10' X 12' and 13' tall
We have already:
Replaced the electrical with 200amp panel
Raised the roof on the back half of the house to give us a hobby room.
Replaced the roofing
Replaced the plumbing with copper/PEX
Remodeled kitchen
Added a new staircase
Added a second bathroom
Added a home office
Added an asphalt driveway
Added two porches (1 enclosed, 1 screened-in)
Replaced all the windows with life-time warranted thermal
Architecturally appropriate vinyl siding
Added a deck and privacy fence
The things still to finish are:
Finishing touches in several rooms
Baseboards
Window and door trim
Crown moldings
Paint
